No put-down intended

Ginny, I definitely wasn't trying to put down anyone for choosing to formula feed their children. If that were the case, I'd be putting down my own mother. I tried to use kind of neutral language, saying, "maybe" and "interesting" so that I wouldn't be offensive. Sorry if it came across wrong.

Mostly my point is that breastfeeding is best, and I don't know why people would choose not to. I've heard from some mothers that sleeping for long stretches of time is one reason they went that route, and also that it's more convenient for them.

I also wonder, but I definitely don't know, if more money=better quality to some mothers. Formula feeding has certainly been a status symbol in the past in our country, and in some others, so it got me thinking (not accusing).

While I don't understand why someone would choose to formula feed, I don't think it's wrong or horrible. I don't think it's the best thing, but it's not the end of the world. Great mothers feed their kids, love their kids, and provide for their kids as best they can. No one is perfect (I say that from experience), and no one way makes any mother better than another. Feeding a child is just one part of mothering, and certainly isn't the measuring stick for good mothering.

Again, sorry if you felt I was putting down any good mothers. That wasn't my intent.
