The top ten parenting sites on Alexa are almost all commercial sites. That's not meant to denigrate them, it's just a fact. They do serve a purpose however and given they do receive more traffic than non commercial sites means they must be providing a service that parents need. Since this is a higher level category, there is some duplication with the previous posts in this series.
Here are the top ten parenting sites according to Alexa.
1. CafeMom - A community where moms can ask questions, give advice and share personal experiences, covering issues from fashion to work.
2. ParentDish - Provides information and advice for pregnant mothers, new parents and parents of teens.
3. Parents.com - Provides magazine articles, newsletters, pregnancy, health, and baby information, advice, polls, contests, and message boards.
4. Indian Parenting - The Definitive Guide - Nursery rhymes, prayers, poems, stories and bhajans regional Indian languages.
5. Care.com - Placement service for babysitters, pet sitters, tutors, senior assistants, and housekeepers.
6. Mothering Magazine - The Natural Family Living Magazine
7. Pampers - Pampers parenting institute. All about pampers and parenting. Includes email list and other resources online.
8. Salon Mothers Who Think - The Web s best source and online magazine for smart, timely, lively original reporting and commentary on news and politics, business and entertainment, culture, and life.
9. First School - Features activity calendar, educational themes, crafts, printable activities, and other resources in English and Spanish.
10. Moms Who Think - Smart, Hip, Connected Women s community and Ezine...MomsWhoThink.com is a premier women s destination, recognizing the need for both information and relaxation by providing up to date content, opinions and tools to enrich your life
These have been interesting lists to collate since I visited every site to check they still existed.
My next series, which will start next week, will feature blogs only. They will again be top ten sites from Alexa but rather than commercial sites, I will sift through each category and bring you the top rated blogs.
Looking at the top rated blogs in your category should give you an indication of what other parents are looking for. Looking at each site also provides you with the opportunity of seeing what they are doing that is obviously working when it comes to design, layout and special features.
Until then = happy parenting.

Kids today have a different perception of the computer and the internet. Children in elementary school are being taught how to use a computer. Some school reports require internet sources. Teaching your children about the internet and setting some rules will help keep them safer.
