Great Baby Games To Enhance Development

by James Lunden

As your baby develops, it's a good idea to engage her senses with games at various stages. Keeping her involved and aware of these senses will help them develop normally. It also is a great way for you to bond with your baby by spending one on one time with her. There are so many ways to play a baby game with your new little one and you can have hours of fun with her.

From birth to 3 months, it's especially important to engage all of her senses as she gets used to this overwhelming new world. Although her sight isn't fully developed (babies are very nearsighted at first), you should incorporate all senses to the games you play with her.

For baby, something as simple as playing music can be hours of fun. Having a baby game that involves sight, sound, smell, and hearing is the best way to encourage normal development in your baby.

Between 4 and 6 months, your baby can lift her head on her own and should have normal sight. This allows for many more options in the way of game playing with baby. If you're in the kitchen, baby will love being exposed to the scent of certain spices like cinnamon to engage her sense of smell.

Putting a dusting of spice in her hand will engage her sense of touch as well. You can also begin the fun game of making baby fly by hoisting her in the air. This will make baby laugh for hours.

From 7 to 9 months, there are even more baby games you can introduce. Peek a boo is a favorite of babies and parents. This provides endless entertainment for everyone involved. Baby will also enjoy banging things on tables and other surfaces as she can easily grab things.

Does Your Child Suffer From Tummy Aches ?

by Soo-Sing Kang

Stomachaches in children happen quite frequently for various reasons, and the frequency increases as soon as they start going to school. When playing with other kids, your child is susceptible to various types of bacteria as well as viruses which can be easily passed on from student to student.

There is more than one culprit of tummy aches - in fact several. Finding the reason for acute stomachaches is not an easy task and requires the experience of a medical professional in order to properly diagnose the illness. The leading cause for stomach-related pains are viruses.

In some cases, you might be able to pin point the cause on your own. With viruses, your kid might experience the symptoms such as fevers, nausea and stomach pains for about a week, sometimes more. Diarrhea might also occur causing loss of fluids so you will keep to keep giving your child plenty of liquids drink. Bacteria or food poisoning symptoms are the same except that they don't last as long (possibly 3 or 4 days depending on the severity). The latter type of infection can be treated by antibiotics to expedite recovery.

Allergic reactions can also produce the effects akin to the previously mentioned. These reactions may be from the bite of an insect or lactose intolerance. It usually starts with stomach cramps, vomiting and dryness of the mouth.

These allergies can be quite dangerous depending on how the child reacts to it but in general, most of the side effects only last a day as long as no further diary food is consumed.

Of all the different types of stomach pains, appendicitis would have to be the worst of all. The pain can be excruciating and appendicitis is more common amongst children than adults. Appendicitis may require surgery to get the appendix removed if the pain persists.

It may not be easy for you to spot these stomach related illnesses in your own kids so you will need to be on the lookout for signs that something is not right. It may come in the form of your kids not eating much or curling up in bed clenching their stomachs. The first protocol would be to get your child to the clinic just to be safe.

As a parent, there is only so much you can do to protect your child's health. Educating your children on hygiene and cleanliness is vital. When these illnesses occur there is nothing much you can do (besides visiting the doctor) except to comfort your child and make sure he or she gets plenty of rest.
